 To all Event Supporters, Sponsors, Vendors, Friends: Due to circumstances beyond our control, the decision has been made to postpone the 2006 Pacific Beach Street Fair, which was scheduled fror April 22, 2006. Over the past year, our organization has worked very hard to change our event to become more of an arts and cultural fair - a traditional street fair if you will, in line with suggestions made to us from members of the Pacific Beach community. On Tuesday, March 28, the City of San Diego Special Events Department denied our event permit, marking the first time in the history of the city that this has occured. Rather than keep everyone waiting for a decision while our appeal to the city plays out, we have decided to postpone the 2006 event until a future date can be agreed upon. The Pacific Beach Community Foundation firmly believes that our permit application was accurate and reflective of the Pacific Beach Community as a whole, and we thank everyone who sent in a letter of support. We will continue to pursue our position. To our vendors and sponsors, we sincerly apologize for the inconvenience that this has caused. We have mailed each of the registered vendors a complete and total refund. We are also recomending that you apply at the Adams Avenue Roots Festival, which is a wonderful 2 day festival the very same weekend. Finally, to everyone who planned to attend our event this year - thanks to all of you. Our plan was and still is to bring a new arts and cultural street fair to Pacific Beach, something we intend to continue to fight to achieve. At this point, if you wish to help us in our goal to bring a cultural fair back to the streets of Pacific Beach, please spend a moment and send a short letter to Mayor Sanders' office, as well as to Councilmember Faulconer's office. Please state why you believe that this event should be allowed to take place, and what your relation to Pacific Beach is...be it as an area business, resident or someone that lives in the surrounding areas. Your words will not go unnoticed.
